Happy Friday everyone – Kendra here! With two fabulous new stores opening in Houston’s Rice Village and CityCentre this fall, I thought now would be the perfect time for a Kendra and the City – Houston edition. I’ve shared with you all my favorite spots and things to do in Dallas and New York City and other amazing cities, but since I’m not yet familiar with Houston, I reached out to some of my Houston insiders at KS – Starla Terry, Danay Leffel and Sophee Houseman, and one of our biggest Houston fans - Ailee Semple to find out the coolest places to go and things to see when visiting the largest city in the state of Texas…Houston.
Hotel Zaza Houston - Located in Houston’s Museum District, this hotel is absolutely gorgeous and I’ve been lucky enough to stay there a few times when visiting H-town. The hotel reflects the Museum District’s vibe with elegant rooms, a gorgeous pool area and an amazing bar that also boasts a great nightlife!
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: Bayou Bend Collection - Houston is home to many incredible museums, but the Bayou Bend Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts was highly recommended for its aesthetic and the timeless American art inside. The collection is nestled in the former home of civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg and is one of the finest showcasing of American furnishing, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world.
Elaine Turner - A fellow Texas accessories designer, Elaine Turner, started her empire in Houston and you can find her flagship store in Rice Village, where our first Houston store will be opening its doors. Shop her chic, classic handbags and beautiful shoes in Elaine’s gorgeous Rice Village boutique.
Houston Texan’s Game at Reliant Stadium – Football is a religion in Texas, so of you’re lucky enough to visit Houston during football season, try to catch a Houston Texans game in the nation’s only NFL indoor/outdoor retractable roof, natural grass stadium.
El Tiempo Cantina - Each Houston gal I asked about where to eat suggested El Tiempo Cantina for their amazing margaritas, fajitas and a stellar happy hour. You can bet I’ll be there next time I visit the city!
Discovery Green - This urban park nestled in downtown Houston allows you to enjoy nature while having a gorgeous view of Houston’s skyline. The park includes a lake, dog runs, venues for bandstands and more so you can get your fill of the great outdoors without ever stepping outside of the city limits.
BHLDN - If you’re a bride-to-be and happen to be visiting Houston, you won’t want to pass this store up. A branch of Anthropologie, the BHLDN store in Houston is one of only two in the world (the other in Chicago), and the large retail space holds romantic, vintage-inspired wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, wedding decor and everything else you need to make your big day beautiful.
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo - The world’s largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition happens at the Houston Rodeo each spring and round’s up some of the best in country and pop music. One of our favorite country bands, Lady Antebellum (who donned KS at last year’s CMA’s), rocked out at last year’s event along with several other incredible artists.
As you can see, there are plenty of things to do while visiting Houston and we cannot wait to become a part of this exciting city’s fashion scene! Stay tuned for dates on when we will open our doors to Houston’s Rice Village and CityCentre.
