What Jewelry Means to Kendra

I started this brand because of my belief in the power of jewelry. It has this magical way of completely transforming a look – some people think that jewelry simply finishes an outfit, but I think the right jewelry can define it.

The Kendra Scott brand has always been about joy. We want to bring fun, color, and creativity into your daily life, whatever it looks like! I’m a mom, a wife, a designer, a founder, and so much more. Some days, I’m going from the board room to a soccer game to a charity event, all of which require different outfits, and show off different sides of my own style. Every woman has multiple sides, both to herself and her style. At Kendra Scott, we create jewelry and an experience that celebrates that.

Today I want to share with you a little bit of what the jewelry we design means to me, because each one has a purpose and a story that it’s just waiting to show off.

ON INSPIRATION

One of my biggest inspirations has always been travel. Over the past two decades, our collections have taken you with us everywhere from Africa to Japan to the Riviera Maya to Italy (photographed above). The goal? To stir your sense of adventure, and inspire you to explore and experiment.

We designed wire wrapped bracelets and utilized wooden beads as a part of our Saharan collection. #KSVintage

On Evolution

As our brand has grown, we like to reimagine certain themes core to our design story in new, innovative ways – like our custom macramé. 15 years ago, it began as hand crocheted wire that took hours to complete. Today, it’s evolved into lightweight, CAD designed wire braiding that nods to our brand’s history.

Fun fact: My dear friend Leah, now VP of Creative Design, was brought in to crochet wire back in 2005. The result? A true work of art (top right), plus a teammate for life.

On Cocktail Rings

That turquoise ring on the left is named after my mom, Janet. The design, combined with its namesake, inspired our Mothers & Families Charm.

There’s no jewelry that better represents what it means to be a woman than the cocktail ring. It’s a beautiful statement that belongs to just you, which is why in every season, it’s incorporated not just in the collection but as a true storyteller.

The trends may change through the years, but one thing never will: Jewelry should always be a celebration of your style.

XO,

Kendra
