If this year has shown us anything, it’s that community is everything. It connects us. It makes us stronger. It creates a better life for everyone. This holiday season, we couldn’t be more grateful to the people who make our communities the best they can be.

Meet the community heroes (and friends of Kendra Scott!) who give the Gift of Joy every day.

Seante Johnson, Founder & Executive Director of Birthday Bash Box

“We are committed to audaciously impacting the lives of children through celebratory experiences. Yes, we want to give children happy birthdays, but it’s bigger than that. We want our efforts to be carried with them for a lifetime. That is why we emphasize literacy and social and emotional learning in our programs. So we are heroes because Birthday Bash Box works to play a part in helping the children that we serve to grow up to become extraordinary human beings.”

Michelle Reeves; Vice President, Director of Culinary & Creative of The Golden Scoop

“We really aren't the heroes in our community, our Super Scoopers are! We are an ice cream and coffee shop that employs and PAYS individuals with developmental disabilities. They are our heroes because they are talented, joyous, and often overlooked for employment. We are so excited to be a business that supports this group of individuals and shows the community how capable they are. We like to say that we are changing lives one scoop at a time!”

Alma Herrera, Executive Director of Tip of Texas Family Outreach

“I oversee the day to day operations of a non-profit organization established to prevent child abuse and neglect in our community. Our agency provides an array of supportive services for families to help them meet their children's emotional, physical, and developmental needs. Our services include parenting skills classes; home-based services for teen parents; educational workshops; free counseling; emergency assistance with food, clothes and school supplies; and helping connect families to other community resources. We have a strong commitment to building a stronger community and ensuring children are raised in safe, healthy, and nurturing environments.”

Kristen Malone, Founder of Bella Pelle Goods

“If I have the resources and I see a need, I do what I can to help out. Philanthropy and education are part of the foundation of Bella Pelle. I make it a priority to be present in my community and help out where I can, always. Whether donating a portion of monthly proceeds, or reading to small children at the library, I believe in helping others.”

Stephanie Haddock, Executive Director of Joy in the Cause Company

“Joy in the Cause is here to provide care, compassion, and joy, one personal act of kindness at a time. Our organization serves kids in crisis and those facing life-altering illnesses. This pandemic has increased the needs and we find more in crisis as we all are impacted by the pandemic. JITC is here to serve those who feel alone, isolated, and broken by providing care packages and backpacks to those in need. We have sent out over 1,500 care packages and 6,600 backpacks this year alone.”

Kelly Lindner, Executive Director of Gonzales Healthcare Systems Foundation

“In 2019, I created a fundraising luncheon to pay for mammogram screens, ultrasounds, and biopsies for any uninsured woman in Gonzales County. The luncheon also had a style show featuring cancer survivors as models. This first time event raised almost $30,000 to pay for those live saving tests… My mother died of cancer and while I can't help her, I can help someone else's mom.”

Kristyn Senters, Communications Director of Texas Women’s Foundation

“Texas Women's Foundation is supporting women and their families who have been hardest hit by the impact of the pandemic. Through our Resilience Fund, we are meeting the needs of low income women and their families by working with our longstanding nonprofit partners to shape and fund strategic and timely responses. Since April, we have granted more than $1 million to nearly 70 organizations that are providing programs and mid-to-long-term services to this most vulnerable population. Our investment is helping to strengthen the lives of women and their families to build more strong communities across Texas.”

Arliss Day, Kendra Scott Store Manager & Co-Founder of the Luke Day Foundation

“The Luke Day Foundation is a non-profit based out of Charlotte, NC that provides support for families who have unexpectedly lost a child. Losing a child carries a heavy financial burden and the Foundation provides help where needed. They can help with medical and funeral expenses, mortgage/rent payments, utilities, food expenses, and more.

We are a family who understands the pain and financial strain of unexpectedly losing a child. We lost our sweet baby Luke in December of 2019. At 13 months old he was perfectly healthy. He was fun, loving, energetic, and brought joy to every moment. We were a happy and fun-loving family who was not prepared for this. We were devastated and caught off guard when Luke passed away from an abnormal twisting of the intestine called volvulus. It usually only happens in children at birth or very soon after birth and can be treated. However, Luke's volvulus developed suddenly and ultimately led to his passing.

After his death, we were embraced by friends, family, and everyone at Kendra Scott with continuous love and support. Kendra Scott is founded on 3 pillars of Family, Fashion, and Philanthropy. Having worked at Kendra Scott for almost 6 years, I am continuously inspired by the philanthropy pillar and the importance of helping others. Luke’s love for others and my experience at Kendra Scott is what guided me to start The Luke Day Foundation. It is our way to honor Luke and make sure that other families feel the same outpouring of love and ongoing support. We want to wrap our arms around families and ease any financial burdens that we can.”

50% of the proceeds from every purchase of our Small Crescent Moon Charm goes back to the Luke Day Foundation, supporting families who have lost a child.
