Philanthropy Highlight: Rosemary Zamora
One stitch at a time.
This has been Rosemary Zamora’s motto since the PPE shortage was announced a month ago, when she started using her masterful sewing skills to create fabric masks for hospitals and clinics in need.
Our relationship with Rosemary began when we were gathering supplies to turn our bandanas into masks for those on the frontlines. We noticed the beautiful mask she was wearing and just had to ask for her best sewing advice! It was during this conversation that we also learned of her heart for helping others and invited her to join forces with us.
“After meeting Rosemary in the crafts aisle, I knew immediately that our paths were meant to cross. We were looking for a way to get our bandanas to the frontlines, and she was already sewing beautiful masks for local medical clinics and hospitals around Austin. The thought of empowering someone so creative, selfless, and passionate is exactly what we stand for at Kendra Scott.” – Brittney, Philanthropy Lead
Our plan was to work with Rosemary to sew 140 masks for families at the Ronald McDonald Houses in Central Texas – a nonprofit, it turns out, that’s very close to her heart. When her oldest daughter Amy was four, she was diagnosed with Leukemia, leading Rosemary’s family to become one of the first five families to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Austin. Being able to deliver the masks with us was definitely a full-circle moment!
We love Rosemary because she embodies everything our Philanthropy pillar is about – a generous heart, a genuine spirit, and a passion for using her talents for the good of her community. Thank you, Rosemary, for being proof that we’re Stronger Together!
