Since our start, we’ve been lucky to call Austin our permanent home. Full of Hill Country magic and the greatest tacos known to man, there’s no wonder Austin is becoming everyone’s favorite travel destination. A sunny escape like none other, Austin embraces the spirit of summer days against the background of a big city — complete with outdoor activities, hole-in-the-wall finds, and laidback, eccentric characters. This summer, vacation is a state of mind, and we’re looking to explore our hometown with fresh eyes and a fresh, new style. Celebrate Summer 2021 by putting on your beachiest beads, pearls, and color, and enjoying a little slice of paradise, no matter where you are.

Whether you’re a transplant, traveler, or whipping together a staycation getaway— weʼve fielded the most charming, must-see spots for an endless (Austin) summer you won’t want to miss. Check it out.

💧 Spend a day at Hamilton Pool Preserve

Hamilton Pool

The backdrop of our Summer 2021 photoshoot, Hamilton Pool is one of Austin’s greatest hidden gems. Swim, sunbathe, and explore this incredible hideaway including a swimming hole, a collapsed grotto and canyon, and a naturally flowing waterfall.

Texan Tip: To protect the Preserve, group numbers are limited. Make sure you book a reservation in advance before adventuring out!

❤️ Take an “I Love You” pic with your BFFs

I Love You So Much Mural

Grab a cup of coffee at Jo’s, and then take a selfie at this totally Instagram-able mural located on Austin’s South Congress Ave.

🍸 Go for a dip and a drink at Kitty Cohen’s Patio Bar

Kitty Cohen’s

An inner-city escape complete with palm trees and a wading pool, Kitty Cohen’s is our go-to spot for kicking back and cooling off (with a refreshing frosé, of course).

🌅 Watch the sunset and Austin’s bridge bats

Congress Avenue Bridge

Home to one of North America’s largest urban bat populations, the Congress Avenue Bridge is a sight to see come sunset! Catch a glimpse of Austin’s Mexican Free-Tailed Bats as they exit the bridge, heading towards Austin’s East Lady Bird Lake.

🌝 Go for a late-night swim at Barton Springs Pool

Barton Springs Pool

Open till 10 PM (and free after 9 PM!), this natural pool is the perfect spot for a late-night dip.

Texan Tip: During the summer months, stop by the Springs during a full moon to watch folks from all over congregate to howl at the moon. As they say, Keep Austin Weird.

💃 Two-step at the Broken Spoke

Broken Spoke

In the words of former owner, James M. White, the Broken Spoke is the “last of the true Texas dancehalls and d*mn sure proud of it!” Drop-in for live music, country dancing, and a plate full of chicken fried steak that country-legends the likes of Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks have enjoyed.
