For this wedding, we begin at the very end of the night. Look at the L*O*V*E! Emily is the copywriter here at Kendra Scott. She married Adam, the love of her life, on a rainy day in March. We can attest it was the most magnificent wedding, filled with endless laughter, twinkly lights, warm fires, and two of the most in-love souls ever to say ‘I Do’.
We asked Emily a few questions about her love story, and she starts on their very first date… “He took me to the best Mexican restaurant in town, I taught him to two-step, he kissed me in the parking lot, and that was it!”
Names of Bride and Groom:
Emily & Adam
Where did you meet?
SXSW in Austin. A mutual friend introduced us, and a week later we went on our first date. He took me to the best Mexican restaurant in town, I taught him to two-step, he kissed me in the parking lot, and that was it!
University of Texas Golf Club, Austin, Texas
What was the most important element of your wedding?
We wanted our wedding to really feel like us. Adam and I tried to weave in personal accents wherever we could.
Oh, and the band of course. Adam and I knew this was the only chance we’d have to get all our favorite people in one place, so we wanted our wedding to be a party. I don’t think we left the dance floor for more than 5 minutes the whole night.
How did you pick out their jewels? Did you have a Color Bar party?
We were in Denver for my bachelorette party, so I decided I’d surprise my friends with a Color Bar party at our store in Cherry Creek! I chose Rose Gold and Ivory Pearl for our colors, and asked each of my friends to choose her favorite style. We spent the afternoon designing their bridal jewels over mimosas and cupcakes … It was perfect!
Why did you choose to make Kendra Scott part of your wedding day?
Making Kendra Scott a part of my wedding was such an easy decision. After working at the company for over three years, I’m in love with so much more than the jewelry. I’m in love with the brand, the culture and the inspiring people who have become my dear friends (many of whom danced the night away with us at the wedding!)
I chose the Alectra Bracelet from the Bridal Collection for myself, which paired perfectly with the necklace Adam gave me as a wedding present. And I gave my mom and sister earrings from the Bridal Collection, as a “thank you” for being by my side through it all.
How did he ask?
Adam and I started talking about marriage early in our relationship, but we’d agreed to date a full year before getting engaged. Little did I know, Adam just couldn’t wait. He designed a custom engagement ring that he hid under his bed for three months before popping the question.
Then, on Memorial Day weekend last year, he told me we were heading to my parents’ lake house to “meet them for dinner.” But when we walked in the front door, no one was home. It wasn’t until I saw the flowers and pictures arranged on a table outside that it hit me. And I completely froze. Adam walked out onto the porch while I worked on getting my act together. When I finally followed him outside, the sun was setting and he was on one knee, asking me to marry him. It was such a sweet moment with just the two of us, and I’ll never forget it.
In a few sentences, tell us your love story and about your wedding day!
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, and that’s what I kept telling myself when I woke up on March 4th to raindrops tapping my window. But the moment I pulled up to the chapel for our first look and saw Adam, I hardly noticed the rain at all. He has a knack for turning my every worried look into a smile, and that’s something I am more and more thankful for every day. Luckily the weather let up just in time for our ceremony, and our reception turned out to be the coziest, most romantic atmosphere that I ever could have imagined. We had an absolute ball, and I think our friends and family did too!
