I had so much fun sitting down with my dear friend Lauren Scruggs Kennedy to catch up over Manis & Mimosas! We also had the pleasure of helping her launch Stranded, a line of powder dry shampoo for blondes, brunettes, and red heads. It’s now a go-to part of our all of our morning routines. It especially touches my heart to know that like everyone here at Kendra Scott, Lauren always has something to give – 20% of proceeds go back to the Lauren Scruggs Kennedy Foundation.

THE LAUREN SCRUGGS KENNEDY FOUNDATION
Kendra: So tell me, what has been going on? I know you’ve recently had so many exciting things happening, and I can’t wait to hear all about them!
Lauren: It’s been kind of a crazy year but so fun. I’ve been working on a foundation for about three years and the purpose of it is to provide natural looking prosthetic arms and legs for women and girls. My friend Amy, for example – she’s my age, has two kids, and she lost all four limbs from a kidney stone. She’s a perfect example of where our heart is. We just so believe in bringing a fuller confidence to a woman through a prosthetic arm or limb that looks beautiful and that you’re proud of.
BEAUTY THAT GIVES BACK
K: So you just launched Stranded? If it wasn’t for dry shampoo, I don’t know what would happen to me. So tell me, first of all, how this started?
L: We started doing a lot of research on products that are good for your scalp, and for your hair. We started creating it in our apartment!
K: So wait, back up – I love this, because you know, I started making jewelry out of an extra bedroom in my house, too. I think the best ideas in the world start out of garages and extra bedrooms. Part of this is going to support your foundation as well, right?
L: Yes, yes. So a percentage of every sale goes towards the Lauren Scruggs Kennedy Foundation.
K: When I started, I decided I would always have something to give, I would never say ‘No’ to anybody who called. I just wanted to do that because it was the right thing to do. Our brand, I think, has had success because people really want to be a part of a brand that is doing something more, that’s giving back, that’s caring.
K: So I wanna talk about your husband
L: Oh my gosh.
K: Because I can’t even handle his cuteness.
L: He’s the best.
K: I mean we both have really cute husbands…
L: I know, I was gonna say your husband is just the same.
K: But he’s so sweet and so down to earth, and he’s just a great, great person. I want you to share your little love story with Jason…
L: He’s a host on E! News. I became close to his co-host, Giuliana (Rancic), and she invited me to LA for an interview. So I came out with my mom. We did the interview the next day, it was so lovely… Giuliana is an incredible person. And at the end, she was like “Okay, there’s this guy that I feel like you need to meet. She introduced us, and Jason ended up giving my mom and I recommendations on what to do in the city. He said, “Hey, if you wanna go hiking tomorrow, let me know. I’m going with a friend.”
K: Right, like super casual, like let’s just go for a hike.
L: Yes! So my mom and I woke up and went to breakfast and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I asked my mom, should I text Jason?!
K: I love it! We’re never too old to ask for advice from our moms.
L: Yes, oh my gosh. I would be lost without my mom!
LA / NY / TX STYLE!
K: Is your style different now than it was when you lived in Dallas? Cause you’ve got this amazing blog with such great style tips.
L: Thank you!
K: You have such great style. Did you feel like you edited it? Because I feel like when I pack for LA or if I’m packing for New York – I’m always like, “Okay is this LA? Or is it…” You know what I mean?
L: Yes! Totally! I do the same thing! I pack totally different things for New York. In Dallas, I’m like, “Will people think I’m crazy for wearing this?”
L: But I didn’t realize my style had changed until my sister pointed it out. She said, “Your style has gotten a lot more chill, laid back and more neutrals.”
K: I love following you – like I said I love your style. And I am honored to be your friend, and I’m so happy that we got to do Manis and Mimosas together!
L: Thanks for having me!
