As a proud Austin based company, all of us at Kendra Scott are absolutely thrilled about fellow Austinite Theresa Kopecky’s gorgeous new clothing company, Tess Dress. This timeless line of dresses, blouses and skirts is the perfect mix of elegance and functionality…classic without being a costume and feminine without being frilly. Tess Dress brings the lost age of glamour and grace back into the spotlight, and we’re absolutely loving it. So much, in fact, that when she came to us about using Kendra Scott Jewelry in her Fall and Holiday photoshoots, we jumped at the opportunity. Beautiful, vintage-inspired clothing tailored right here in Austin with impeccable detail and grace? There couldn’t be a better match to pair with our jewelry! Read on to find out more about Theresa Kopecky, the brain behind Tess Designs, and see looks from her latest collection…
Not only is Theresa mega talented behind the sewing machine, but she is also a veteran. After seeing the second tower fall on 9/11, she signed up with the Air Force and was the only female on her remote Special Operations base during her deployment to Afganistan.
“Being in the military is a big part of who I am,” says Theresa. “I want every moment to count, and I have always told myself that I want to leave the world better than I found it. This dream has really shaped me. As well as this, being part of the military and running a chain of command has been a great basis for learning how to run a business.”
Theresa’s testimony and commitment to her country is an inspiration to us all and her patriotism is reflected in her designs. One of our favorite looks from her newest collection is this darling patriotic floral dress that she accented with a vintage-inspired Milli Starr hat (who is also a fantastic Austin designer), bold red lipstick and our Morgan Stud Earrings in Pink.
This floral dress is the perfect transition piece from spring to fall, mixing spring’s pastel trend with darker hues in an alluring combination. Easy, breezy, but still feminine and chic, this dress would be perfect for day or night and we love it paired with a mix of our bangles and statement earrings.
A crisp, tailored white button up is a must-have for all seasons and this one looks fabulous with an earth-toned brown pencil skirt, both from Tess Dress Fall/Winter 2012 Collection, and our Evie Earrings in Pink. Get a similar one here with the Tess Dress Ann skirt in Brown Sugar.
This vintage-inspired look is a modern take on 1950′s fashion, and we love the unexpected mix of the black and white gingham tweed skirt with brown leather boots. She styled the retro look with our Sam Necklace in Tiger’s Eye and a flirty, feminine low bun.
“We’re committed to bringing back the spirit and optimism of the jet and space age of the 1950′s and 1960′s, and it is this attitude of vibrancy that inspired my husband and myself to start our company!” Theresa says.
This black dress and belt combination represents Tess Dress classic, feminine silhouette that can be found in many of their pieces. We love that the timeless dress can be accented with any color, like our Dani Ring in Sarong and Flynn Earrings in Flare.
