Mermaid Mystique

As the first full month of summer, July is a hot month for vacations. People are heading to the tropics to take a break from work and make a splash with their family and friends. With all of the gorgeous imagery of seaside getaways popping up on the radar, we were inspired. We took one look at this mermaid spread in the May 2012 issue of Vogue India, and we were hooked! How breathtaking are these images incorporating gorgeous turquoise oceans with whimsical fabrics in seaside-inspired palettes? Wow!
Photographer Luis Monteiro took these stunning underwater dreamscapes. The model-mermaid, Jessiann Gravel-Beland, looks ethereal in an electric yellow dress with intricate light blue details, resembling underwater plants from the Coral Reef.
From Flare Canada to Vogue India and Spain, several fashion magazines across the globe embraced the magic of these mythical creatures in recent fashion shoots. The blue-green sequined and incredible scalloped dress would both be gorgeous on a red carpet, but their unique, mermaid-like elements can be translated in more casual ways too.
