It’s happening! The New York Times best selling book, Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James, is being adapted into a film. Universal Studios alongside Focus Features have purchased scripting and casting rights from Mrs. James. This makes us wonder…who will be cast for the lead roles?
The notoriously handsome and suave leading man, Christian Grey, will be the talk of Hollywood. From the book, we know that Christian has to be gorgeous. Here at the Kendra Scott Headquarters, debate has erupted about which Hollywood heartthrob should take the role. Our first choice is Ian Somerhalder. Those piercing, ice blue eyes are the epitome of Christian Grey, and in a recent interview, Ian admitted to being interested in the role. Ryan Gosling was another popular choice. His character in Drive showed us that this romantic guy does have a bad boy side. Man of Steel star Henry Cavill would be a great fit for Christian with his strong physique. Chace Crawford is also a favorite. We would love to see him transition from Gossip Girl to the big screen.
And what about Anastasia Steele the protagonist of the book? Ana is a shy, intelligent college graduate with an aire of innocence. In an interview in Entertainment Weekly, E L James stated that she was inspired by the character Bella from the Twilight Saga. We love the idea of casting Alexandra Daddario. This breakout star is stunning and has all the attributes of Miss Steele. Ashley Greene from the Twilight series is another top pick. Her sweet smile and charm are perfect for naïve Anastasia. Bella Heathcote‘s big blue eyes and sweet smile are perfect for the role. And did you know that Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones is actually a brunette?! She fits Ana’s description perfectly with a mix of striking beauty and girl-next-door features.
Although Elena Lincoln, also known as Mrs. Robinson, does not have a large role in the first book, she becomes a major player in Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. Casting the perfect dominating older female is an important decision. Gorgeous actresses like Michelle Pfeiffer, Diane Lane and Sharon Stone would be great for the role, but hands down, we love Kim Cattrall. Samantha from Sex and the City matches the description of Mrs. Robinson to a “T”.

Matt Bomer should 100% play Christian Grey. And I think Camilla Belle would be a perfect Anastasia. Surely Sharon Stone will play Mrs. Robinson. Clearly, I was born to be a casting director.

Helloooo….Channing Tatum. With his thick lucious lips and smoldering eyes….square jaw and seriously hot body….can’t picture anyone else as Christian Grey!!! And I’m sure he can send a look thru you that would send chills thru your soul!

I must agree, Ian Somerhalder, for the role of Christian Grey… We all invision in our own minds what characters may look like, and the moment I saw this young actor (being that I am not an avid Vampire Diaries viewer, and have not ever have heard of Ian Somerhalder) (my apologies to Ian) I was able to connect Ian, with Christian Grey.
Ashley Greene, is my favorite choice for Ana, there is a look of innocence that Ashley Greene carries about herself.
Sharon Stone, is a wonderful choice for Mrs. Robinson, I can very much see Sharon playing this intimidating role.

I have just started this series, I’m on the second book. With the characters you have pictured, I’ve already decided on my own cast (in my head of course so thank you) and it would be Henry, Alexandra and Kim. Can’t wait for this motion picture

James Scott, who plays E J Dimera on Days of Our Lives. He is the perfect Christian Grey. There are many, many videos of him on YouTube, showing his acting abilities. He is tall, 6’4″, great body, adorable and his pants hang from his hips in “That Way”, in scenes where he is shirtless. He has played very angry, tender, vulnerable, control freak, bad boy, hot, hot lover, seriously in love, danced the Tango (that was really hot) and on and on. He can do it all and is a very good actor. Was nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy, for best leading actor. I am so sure, that once you watch his videos, you will all completely forget about anyone else but James Scott, to play the part of Christian Grey. He is British and has an accent. On the Days show, he has played the role of an Italian descendant and worked with a dialect coach, to perfect the Italian accent. I’m sure he could do that again, for American English. He has a beautiful head of darker hair, although at this time, he is wearing it a bit shorter. A little copper highlights added, gray/blue contacts (has hazel eyes) and Wa-LA, you have Christian Grey. Please check him out.
