Peplum Perfection

Classic, girlie and elegant, peplums are the in vogue trend of the season.  Designers from Céline to Jason Wu added peplum pieces to their spring and summer collections in tops, skirts and dresses.  Peplums are great for all body types because this style cinches in the waist and flatters the hips at the same time.

We caught one of our favorite LA bloggers, Sydne Summer of Sydne Style sporting a blue peplum top in three fabulous ways. Sure do love how she incorporated Kendra Scott pieces as well…in her first look, Sydne paired her peplum with the Harlow Necklace in Yellow and crisp white jeans. In look two, Synde chose our Cassie Bracelet in Black with a fitted leopard mini. Talk about a fabulous use of animal print!  In look three, her flowing, pleated maxi and Danielle Earrings in Lilac made Synde look like a Modern Mermaid.

We aren’t the only ones crazy for peplum.  Fashionistas all over the world are sporting the trend.  Peplum is a classic style that has been wore by royalty like Princess Diana and Duchess Catherine.  Both Emma Watson and Emma Stone sported peplum mini skirts on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday evening. Emma Watson, starring as Hermione is the Harry Potter saga, took a futuristic twist with bold black lines and a geometric cut.  Emma Stone, star of The Help and winner of “Trailblazer of the Year”, chose a classic black and white contrasting dress, showing off her tiny waist.

Want to try the trend for yourself?  Dior has subtly tailored versions of peplum available in their ready-to-wear line this season.  For the more deal finding divas, Topshop and Lulu’s offers peplum dresses in bold colors and unique shapes.  To get the most out of a peplum top, pair with a form fitting pencil skirt or pants to emphasize the ruffle.  So, embrace the poof and strut your stuff!
