While there are many beautiful venues for tying the knot, there’s nothing quite like a beach wedding. The sea and the sand create a picture-perfect backdrop for your big day.
The soothing sand and crashing waves make for a dramatic setting, but still offer a cool and casual feel. The sea and the sunset takes care of most of the decor for you, but adding nautical accents is a perfect way to compliment the already gorgeous scenery. We love the idea of using driftwood and bottles as centerpieces for an organic feel. For individual place settings, starfish and seashells are the perfect, delicate accents. Be sure to check out these adorable parasol seating cards, courtesy of Martha Stewart Weddings. Pastel colors and aquatic attributes contribute to the peaceful ambiance of the sea. (Not to mention, the pictures will be stunning!)
Unless you’re lucky enugh to live by the sea, a beach wedding is often a destination wedding, meaning that some aspects of planning can be a bit challenging, so research local vendors to minimize transport costs. Opt for directive signs to help guests find the ceremony site. With the right preparation, your beach wedding is sure to be breath taking.
We’d love to know…Would you host a destination wedding?

Hi Kendra – I enjoyed your article about beach weddings. I know they’ve been popular for years and we’re very pleased about that since the products we make are specifically FOR this type of wedding. My sister and I formed Jewels by Jan back in 2003 and we are still handcrafting our beach wedding footwear. Our designs are unique and very different from others who make them since they each feature our trademarked “Medallion-in-the-Middle”, a beautiful centerpiece made of materials like Mother of Pearl, Rhinestone, Glass or Pearl. Our sandals also feature two row’s of beaded pattern as opposed to one.
Kendra, I wanted to find out if you ever write articles about specific types of footwear for weddings and if so would you consider adding a few of our designs in one? I know that you write about a number of subjects but this IS wedding season so I wanted to find out if it was a possibility.
Here is the link to our website and blog – you’ll see that we offer other products for brides as well and we’re about to add a line of La Donna Bella cosmetics in the next week or two. If you’ve not seen barefoot sandals for beach weddings I think you’ll be very surprised! http://www.jewels-by-jan.com

Jan
